Carrots

Well, I’ve all but condensed my notes for the novels so far. There’s still a small pile of looseleaf papers to copy into my notebook, and then I’ll still have to type up the notebook into Buster, but it’s much easier to find things already. As for actually writing up new material for Book Two, I’ve got only about nine pages so far, but it should take off as soon as I finish getting organized. It feels odd that I need to get so organized in the first place. After all, I know these characters as if they were real people, and I know the general plots of all the books inside and out as well. I guess the organization is more for making sure details remain consistent as I write. I hate inconsistencies, especially since I myself am fairly inconsistent.

So right now I’m in the office with a bag of mini carrots, munching merrily away while the prospect of getting some thorough work done on the novels is dangling in front of my face cloyingly. I just have to get through some “real” work before I can toy with the books today. It’s tempting to just pull my notes out of my satchel and hang out with my friends for the rest of the morning, but I’ll just have to keep it out of arm’s reach until I get some more papers graded. After all, midterms are coming up and I want to be able to enter those in quickly rather than scramble for them at the last minute. At least I’ve got carrots to keep me going.

    If it works:

Dangling carrots is a good way to keep moving. Hope this gets you out of the no motivation mood.
