Well, I just got done reporting midterm grades for my four classes. I’d say that on average, my classes are doing about average. Except my 202. They’re doing really well. There are a lot of students failing, but that’s predominately because of attendance issues or the fact that they never turn anything in. Maybe getting an F will help wake them up. Then again, knowing some of these students, probably not. Ah, the joys of teaching.
We had the French Table yesterday afternoon. It’s supposed to be a conversation table for students/faculty/whoever to come in and speak French for an hour, but yesterday it was just me, Keri, and our retired librarian friend Mr. Carter. I made coffee beforehand (Keri was in class or else she’d have done so) for Keri and Mr. Carter, and then I fixed a cup of tea for myself. I brought in 25 of my teas for the French Table then ended up being the only one to drink any. I’m going to keep the majority of them here in my office, however, and that way I will always have wonderful, sweet caffeine. I really ought to fix myself a cuppa right now, but I’d have to clear off some of my desk for it. At any rate, the French Table was fun as usual, and we talked quite a bit about cooking and caffeine habits of European countries.
I really do need to clear my desk off here. There are piles of stuff that I really can’t identify from just looking at them, and that’s generally a sign something needs to be done about it. Hell, my desk at home has been a disaster zone for far too long; long enough that the husband tossed all of it into a crate just so he could access my desktop. Depending on what Simon wants to do this weekend, I might have to try sifting through some of that while he’s up. I’m going to hit LGT Thursday to pick him up. It’s a good idea I’m getting him Thursday because homecoming (@#$%^&* retarded stupid event) is this weekend and traffic Friday and Saturday is going to suck around here. That and Simon will get all of Friday to play on-line while Ian’s asleep and I’m at work. Go Simon!
Well, I’m gonna wander off. I have to finish writing up the exam for tomorrow’s 102 class and I need to get it and the exams for 101 printed off and copied as well. Then there’s some more grading, some lesson plans to write, and well, general organization and craziness around here. Keri’s going to swing by to give me my evaluation from last Wednesday’s class, and I might have students pop in to ask random questions as well. After work, I’m going to hit the local knitting shop for some needles and yarn for tomorrow’s Knit Wit meeting. I wonder if I’ll have time Thursday for a TKT since I’ll be grading tests during my office hours then leaving here straight for LGT. We’ll see. Maybe I’ll have Simon help me with it when he’s up that evening. 🙂 Laters!
Bell Prevails:
"I'd say that on average, my classes are doing about average."
That's a good sign. 🙂
We'll be happy to see Simon!
French and yarn:
Your French table made me think of the Hockey game Mom had on last night. The game was being broadcasted in French. Your mention of getting yarn made me think about that old box of yarn (probably about 15 lbs of yarn:) on Mom's closet. If I get a chance, I drag it out and you can look at it tomorrow when you get Simon.
Love Dad
Have fun!:
Um, yeah have fun!
You could:
You could step off the edge of the sanity you're clinging to and make up fun personalities for each tea, knit them little hats, and then have your own tea parties! Yes, it's a dumb idea but now you're stuck with it in your brain!
