Hella lot

So I was talking to Miller and Dave last night while going through all the archives of Piled Higher and Deeper, or PhD for short, and it occured to me that I didn’t really know exactly how many comics I go through in a week. After all, it took me six hours to catch up on a week and a half’s worth of comics, so that probably means I read a lot, right? Right. So at around three in the morning, I sat down and opened my Links page to take a look. Anyone wanna guess how many? Huh? Eh? Well, it wouldn’t be fair to have a contest about it because technically they’re all up on my Links page and any old shmoe could go count them like I did and come up with the exact same number. At any rate, here’s the number of webcomics I read in a week:

97

That’s not including the 15 that I read from time to time because they update like once a month. And since I just finished going through all the archives of PhD last night (a fucking awesome webcomic about grad school that anyone who’s been there can appreciate wholeheartedly), the number 97 will be going up to 98. I probably ought to go through and weed a few out then, shouldn’t I? I do that from time to time: just go through and pull out the ones that I just don’t enjoy anymore and toss them in the “No longer reading” section of my Links page. Honestly, a few comics need to be reorganized and put into better categories like Fallen needs to go under the “Very irregular updates” section, and there’s a couple under the “3-5 days a week” that could probably be moved to “1-2 days a week” section.

Regardless. The point of this post is that I read a shitload of webcomics. Some are frickin’ awesome like Questionable Content and WTF Comics (a webcomic all about EverQuest), and some are so-so like Boy on a Stick and Slither and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. And yet I read them all. One of my summer projects was to start work on my own webcomic again, but I think I’ll work on my novel first. That’s going to be on my agenda for today: get another couple chapters typed up and maybe on-line. So long as it’s creative, I’m happy. Now if you’ll excuse me, my kettle’s going off and I have another couple dozen webcomics to read today.
