Two weeks left

Well, I have two weeks left here at SASC. It’s an odd feeling, knowing that I’ve been here for six years and yet I’ll be gone in just two weeks. Currently, just about everyone in the department is sitting around the main office eating birthday cake and gabbing. I came back in here because I had to mail an electronic copy of Jerry to the College of Arts and Sciences. That’s just one step closer to being a French adjunct and one step farther away from this closet. I can’t say that I’ll miss the closet, but I will miss working with Heather and Susan and Brad and Cathy and Nancy and a number of the other people here. Sure, some of them are kind of insane and I could go the rest of my life without seeing them again, but that’s very few of the whole (maybe 1 or 2%), so I’ll be missing more than not. One thing that I will miss, which is an unexpected thing I didn’t originally consider missing, will be advising. I like helping students figure out their schedules and what to do with their lives. Sure, it’s a glorified guidance counselor position, but I still enjoyed it. At least I’ll still be doing the other thing I love as much this fall: teaching. So I’ll miss being an advisor/instructor/tutor here at SASC, but I’ll enjoy being a French teacher this fall for LLL. I wonder if I’ll be in that position for six years like I was here. Hmm…
