Well, I just finished archiving PVP yesterday night. It didn’t take as long to archive as I thought, but then again, I was reading nearly a year every day or two, so that makes it go faster. I figure the next biggie is MegaTokyo. I’ll probably get to it soon, I guess. I really enjoy archiving not only because it’s like sitting down and reading a book (graphic novel, really) but also because it affords me the opportunity to find other on-line comics which might be of interest to me. Whenever an on-line comic does cross-overs or guest weeks, there are new artists and styles presented. If I like the style or really enjoy the comic in some other way (e.g. joke or creativity) and if there is a link provided to the artist’s own site, I’ll open their page in another tab and hold onto it until I’m done archiving for the time being. Then I hop onto the Rantfest edit page and update my Archiving page to keep track of where I left off as well as to add the new comics. It’s fun! I’m back up over 30 on my archiving site again, hehe. For every one I archive, it seems I find another three or four to archive in the future. Craziness. At least, that’s what the husband says.
As for my own work on my own comics, I have a lot of ideas in mind and have begun a lot of sketching and character creation. There are a few plotlines I’m working on, and I’ve got a few styles I’m toying with. I’ll also have to work out what medium I plan to use–pen and paper, computer, marker, etc.–as well as how I’ll post it on the page and allow for archiving. Lots to think about. Even more to draw, eventually.
I’ve also been thinking about Simon and comics. He seems to enjoy comics quite a bit, and he was even getting into Maus, a graphic novel about Nazi Germany and Auschwitz (sp?). I think when he’s back up here again in July, he and I should have a comic-a-thon or something. Just spend the day having a marathon comic-drawing session where we take turns drawing panels or see who can come up with the fastest (and possibly crappiest) comic. I think he might get a kick out of it. Maybe I’ll drag some of the gang in on it as well. Doodlemania, woohoo! It’ll be a nice change of pace after getting laid off, after all. 🙂
So that’s where I’m at comic-wise. I brought a cross-stitch pattern today to work on since Sycamore Advantage (freshman orientation) doesn’t start until tomorrow. I figure I’ll archive a few comics today while working on it since Heather’s not in to pester. Laters!
