My meeting with Keri was coolness incarnate. I’m really excited about getting to teach French this fall even if the chances are that it’ll kill me physically and mentally. I mean, teaching four classes in a day with practically no break is going to be rough, but the grading will be just as insane. No wonder Tony was always tricking me into grading assignments for him. He figured out that I have an editor buried beneath my linguistic shell, and when handed a paper or worksheet, I automatically start correcting grammar and spelling. So when I used to visit his office (which may well become my office this fall), he’d nonchalantly slide a paper in front of me with a pen on it, and I’d just start correcting it without breaking conversation or thought. Craziness, really.

So yeah, despite my worries that it’ll be insane and I won’t know what I’m doing at all, I’m still pretty excited about being an adjunct. Hell, I’ll even have benefits. It’ll be the first time in my life that I’ll have ever gotten benefits. Crazy.

Keri gave me several copies of the syllabi for the three classes I’m going to be teaching, so I’ll be spending part of this summer working on my own syllabi and such. I’m also going to be working on my French. It’s been forever since I’ve taken a French class or had to speak in French. I guess I’ll just have to check out a bunch of French movies from the library and get a lot of French CDs so I can get my ears used to it again. If I can find an on-line French radio station, that’d help out too. Maybe I’ll have to talk to Ian in French more often, hehe. Practice, of course, not to irritate him, though that might be a side effect. Yay! I’ll be teaching French this fall!
