Well, this is the calm before the storm, I believe. Advanced registration for summer and fall classes begins next week, and while most Open Preference students are sophomores and freshmen and cannot register until the 17th or 24th, the flood consisting of those smart enough to get in early has already begun in a trickle of phone calls and occasional drop-ins today. The sitation will worsen until Heather, Susan and I are swamped beneath a wave of students’ files where a stream of students meanders outside our doors for hours on end. Soon, Heather and I won’t be able to take lunch breaks since the secretaries won’t pay attention to the clock or to our remonstration with having our lunch hours poured into fifteen or thirty minutes, if that–all despite being told when we’re taking our lunch “hour.” The thesis had better be done in its entirety by the end of this week because there will be no time for it beginning next week, come hell or high water. Chances are that there will be no reason for bringing Buster in because even if I get a few minutes here and there to work on the thesis, it’d be a mere drop in the bucket and not worth the backache. So if I don’t post much or they’re fairly sporadic in length and content, it may well be because I’m going under. Don’t worry though; I’ll manage to keep afloat. I’m looking forward to fording this semester finally so I can wash my hands of it and get back to the rest of my life. When it’s all said and done, I’ll probably have a nice, stiff drink to celebrate. Cul sec!
