A longer week

I worked the 23rd of December until 4:30 and used the rest of the evening wrapping presents and getting ready for eventual traveling to LGT. The 24th was spent driving, dropping presents off at the Ringwalds and Doyles, hanging out with family and trying to figure out what was going on for the next couple days. The 25th finally arrived and so did present-opening, first at the Ringwalds and later at the Doyles. Lots of wrapping paper was ripped and plenty of tape was cut, and soon Ian and I had loaded up the van with presents, Simon and stuff from my old bedroom at the Ringwalds’. Back in the Haute, we unpacked Simon and put some of the gifts up, making sure the place was in order for a visit from the Flecks. I did some grocery shopping for the up-coming week and made sure Simon was content with his video games. The 26th saw the arrival of the Flecks and the Ringwalds including a Nolan for more present opening and insanity, which is what five kids eight and under will do to a normally quiet house. Several hours and a lot of screaming later, the Ringwalds and Nolan went home and the Flecks settled in for some TV watching and spumonti drinking. The 27th saw more running and playing kids along with a more nervous and freaked out Kitty. By the end of the whirlwind fun with the Flecks, we had a lot of hyper kids and one paranoid cat. The 28th was spent with Simon doing some random shopping at Hobby Lobby and Wal-Mart. DnD was played with the random campaign. The 29th meant more shopping with Simon only this time the husband was not involved. We hit Books-A-Million and the Conservatory of Music so we could get Christmas gifts for Simey–a book on wizards and a padded alto sax strap. More DnD was played with the gang, this time part of the wizards’ school Miller dreamed up. Returns were made the 30th–the same book on wizards (someone had torn and removed stuff from the back pages) and the humidifier that Ian and I had bought the week prior (the tank was busted and therefore couldn’t hold water). Once returns were over, it was video game time and relaxing. The 31st has seen the return of Simon to LGT where he can attend a friend’s New Year’s party, and the husband and I are back in the Haute for some down-time for the first time in a week. Tomorrow will be laundry and cleaning day as well as reinstalling everything on Buster (who’s getting a good FORMAT C: soon). I have seven new teas to try and more movies to watch. The husband has a remote control car to torment the cat with, Kitty has more tuna than she can shake a stick at, and I have more video gaming to get in before I have to be back at work next week. So since I probably won’t post tomorrow, happy new year and drink something corrosive for me.

    We chose:

We chose to inaugurate the year with a healthy cleaning of the house. The kitchen, living room, den, upstairs and downstairs bathrooms, and to a lesser degree the basement are now clean.
