Well, the two “baby” apple snails grew up a lot faster than I thought they would. Likewise, they spawned a lot faster than I thought they could. I might have to do some more research on these guys because they may not be apple snails at all. Their eggs are underwater unlike Cthulu’s which are above the waterline (By the way, she has laid another clutch in one corner by the lid.), and Cthulu’s eggs are more opaque, not clear like the two little guys. Also, apple snail eggs aren’t supposed to hatch as quickly as these little guys’ did. So the new snails have spawned. The babier babies are adorable, being about the size of a pin head with tiny little antennae. The only problem is that we really can’t keep them. There’s no way we could have room for them all without getting a much, much larger tank, and even then, they’d just keep multiplying. <;Sigh>; So I’m going to clean out an old tank, isolate Nuggie so he will stop getting piggy-back rides on poor Azzie, and then probably move Azzie in another tank so I can do a thorough cleaning of the egg-laden tank. I hate the idea of killing all those adorable little baby snails. Just the idea of killing stuff gives me nightmares, so I’ll probably have even more nightmares once this is done. 🙁

It’s funny, people always assume that Atheists are immoral and condone horrific crimes like murder, rape and the like, as if we’re all anarchists or souless monsters. I’m an Atheist and I can’t even stand the idea of killing baby snails let alone humans, born or unborn. It just goes to show that values and morals don’t necessarily have anything to do with having a religion. Hell, I know people who believe in Jeebus and gods and all that and yet still believe in abortion and capital punishment despite what their Church tells them to believe. Values and morals are individual and are based on the choices we make. It’s strange how such a simple thing like raising snails can make me think about such larger, global issues. My life’s odd.
