Happy birthday, Aunt Pamela!

I need to call her tonight to wish her a happy birthday, but that’s not the point of this post. The point? I’m not sure. I had one when I started this or thought about starting this, but my brain is dead. I’ve been trying to schedule guest speakers for my Univ 101 classes, work on the web page for my Univ 101 classes, work on the syllabus for my Univ 101 classes, and get my supplies together for my Univ 101 classes. Heh, it’s funny. As I was typing that, I kept typing “class” and then having to go back and edit it to “classes.” The fun thing is that the class which used to have 12 in it now is up to 20 (Heather’s adding another one as I type). So I have a total of 50 students between the two, which isn’t too bad. It could be worse; I could be a high school teacher and have 200 students.

My desk. My poor desk here at work. It was all perfectly cleaned off when I left in July. When I came back, the trash can was on top of it because they cleaned the carpets, but otherwise it was all nice and clean. Now? Now there’s an extra printer on it becausae someone decided I needed another one, there are papers scattered all over from Univ 101 and various advisement sessions, and there are little bits of paper with PINs, phone numbers, names, and schedules scribbled and doodled on both sides. There are Post-it notes stuck to the monitor and wall, and I taped pieces of paper to my glass-top desk so that I wouldn’t lose important pieces of information. I have writing on my hand for more stuff to not forget, and there are even notes to myself on the computer. I know that my desk at home needs to be put together and the stuff in the study needs cleaned, sorted and put away in its appropriate spots, but after sitting all day at a desk like this, who could blame me if I just want to go home and sit on the couch with my husband, cat, some oolong and a cross stitch? I haven’t even had any caffeine today! I had milk for breakfast! And a banana! And that was it! And I’m enjoying the exclamation points now!

Okay, enough of that. I think that I’m going to try and straighten these stacks of papers, determine which bits of paper I can pitch, then give my brain a break a while by reading through some DnD books for this weekend. Of course, planning for DnD sessions is a lot like doing lesson plans, but at least DnD lesson plans involve dragons and elves and swords and stuff. I think I’d get fired if I included those things in my lesson plans for University 101. Hmm, though it is an interesting idea. Eh. I’m gonna go read now.
