I ran to Wally World earlier today to grab cleaning supplies and buttons and a tackle box for my Legos (which, incidently, should never be used in the plural because it’s a mass noun, not a count noun according to the Lego people, but obviously I don’t care a lot). I grabbed some rust remover for tubs, some floor mopping solution (what’s that stuff called?) and some Woolite for the couch. We already have Soft Scrub, window cleaner and some other stuff…linseed oil, uh, detergent, that kind of stuff. You know, essentials.
I started doing some cleaning yesterday, and decided to carry it over into today. I picked up some plastic tubing so I could siphon (syphon? I hate that word) some murky water out of the two tanks, and so that’s the first thing I did while Ian nearly killed himself using that rust remover in the tub. Fumes galore, and nasty ones too. But it seemed to work; the tub is cleaner.
I went to the couch only to discover ants had taken up resident in it. Note to self: get vacuum cleaner for crumbs. So I used some Raid on them (more fumes) then started using the Woolite upholstery (upholstry? Another damned word to misspell) cleaner on the couch. Again, more fumes. Now, mind you, the couch is relatively clean as far as stains go meaning they aren’t breeding bacteria. Still, the stains are there and are unfortunately almost all caused by the cat. Using the Woolite (which I can’t seem to figure out) only made the stains appear to show up more. Dippy. Of course, had we used something on the stains when they had happened, this wouldn’t be an issue. Oh well, at least the stains are cleaner now. I’m waiting on the couch to dry so I can use our little desk vacuum on it again and then do the other sides of the cushions.
Ian’s currently in the process of using the Soft Scrub and something else and something else in the bathroom, hence more fumes and an annoyed Kitty because he won’t let her in there while he’s cleaning. I can only hope she’ll leave the damned couch alone while it’s drying. The mini-vacuum scared her off earlier, and she hates the sound of spray cans, so I could just rev up the vacuum when she gets on the couch. As soon as I’m done with the couch, I think I’ll work on getting everything off the living room floor so I can sweep then mop to get the Woolite that sprayed on the floor off the floor. I think that after that, there’s some more dishes to be done and the kitchen floor could use a good mopping too.
Eventually, I need to get back to packing. We’ve been working on cleaning out the closet, and next I think will be Kitty’s room. 90% of the crap in this place is mine, and therefore it is my responsibility to go through it all and throw 75% of it away or pack it better. Such fun! This weekend, I’d do more cleaning/packing, but the husband and and I are hitting LGT to camp a night with the sis and her family. Busy, busy, and I haven’t even touched my thesis since I’ve been put on a forced vacation. Isn’t it grand?

I can almost see the old Lego chest. I'm wanting to get that and a digital camera out and play at some point. Stop action fun!
