I just finished cleaning out Cthulu's tank. Shorty's in the process of sounding the water now, trying to figure out why the water level dropped then went back up. Ah, to have the mind of an invertebrate. Beyond that, today has been spent pretty busily. I've been fielding questions from parents who got my message on their answering machines about their kid's fall registration. I've been taking down events from people in departments all over campus either on the phone or by e-mail. I've taken the binder Tony gave me and pretty well filled it with articles, corpora, bibliographies, and computer searches for my thesis so I can prove to him next week that yes, I have done something and that no, I'm not entirely a shiftless layabout. I've talked to Jamie about my potential Univ 101 prof pack of essays rather than a book for the students to read, even loaning her one of my books so she could check out some of the essays. I went to Arby's with the husband for lunch, and now I'm sitting in my office wondering if I should stay until 4:30 because I'm the only OP advisor in for the rest of the day or if I should skip out because I'm tired after having gotten only four hours of sleep last night due to combined insomnia and a late movie. Decisions, decisions. I think I'm going to at least try to get a little more work done on this binder so that Tony will be massively impressed and will call me his best student ever (or "Crazy Lady" as usual, but I can't tell the difference) and so he will hound me less next week when we meet Wednesday. Phew!
Maybe I'll sharpen all my pencils and line them up all nice and neat on the edge of my desk for a while. I just realized after having ranted about all the above, that my brain really is quite shot at the moment. Isn't that wonderful? I think I'll take a nap when I get home tonight. I think I need one. Then I want to finish clearing up my desk a bit so I can play Puzzle Pirates since I haven't gotten to play in a while. Sounds like a plan. And caffeine sounds like it'd be wonderful right now. Yummy algae!
