Been busy

Yesterday I watched three documentaries while editing pictures for a display I’m making for the library. I watched a documentary on ancient Jerusalem, one about volcanoes, and the last was on the history of the United States Congress. The common theme? All explosive topics, heh. At any rate, I’ve been busy, and with the weather the way it has been, my head feels a bit like exploding too. I suppose all the tons of stuff I’ve been doing lately is enough to make my head explode as well.

The display I mentioned in the first paragraph is “Herald Headlines through History,” and so far it has required me to get lots of images from our microfilm newspapers then do a lot of cropping so I can put them on the posterboards I’ve already cut up in order to make placards showing what was going on in Jasper since 1858 (the earliest newspaper we have). There’ll be crepe paper involved and some other random stuff, but for now, just messing with the images is time consuming.

Also time consuming is making fliers and brochures. Recently, I’ve made a brochure for our genealogy room as well as fliers and a poster for the up-coming genealogy open house. I’ve also made a flier and entry form for the August writing contest (theme: sci fi) but still need to make up an information sheet for the judges as well as contact the judges. I made a flier for the local author book sale that we’re having August 7 in front of the library, and I’m working on a brochure touting the talents of the area authors so I can distribute the information to local shops and organizations to try and drum up interest in local writers. I still have to finish planning out the book sale, which means making a spreadsheet, coming up with a work schedule for the authors involved, and making sure to have all supplies ready to go come August. I have to make a flier for our movie nights in August; the theme will be Gary Cooper. I just wrote and formatted a quiz that we’ll be doing next week at the 4-H fair at the library’s booth, and the next thing will be running off a lot of copies and helping to organize the booth because I’m going to be working there Monday night. Then there are the usual library tasks like dealing with the collection agency accounts and the like. You know, normal stuff.

So that’s work-related stuff. On the home front, I’ve gotten Book Two published here on Lulu and am working to get a large print edition available as well as finishing up Book Three so I can get it published as well. I need to order a bunch of copies of Book Two to have available for the book sale, and I need to reprint business cards to reflect the most recent edition. I’m still puttering about with genealogy, though that’s mostly on the weekends, and crocheting is always on one of the burners. Also, I’m about fifteen pokemon away from completing my pokedex on my FireRed game. Go me!

It’s time for work, so I’m heading out. There’s more going on, but it’ll have to wait. Later!
