Almost half a year ahead

I suppose all the work I’ve been doing on editing Book Two, finding quotes on Book Three, and figuring out how to pick up where I left off in Book Four has made me more than a little writing-crazy. I’ve already begun thinking ahead to what I’ll do for National Novel Writing Month this up-coming November. I guess part of me is paranoid that if I don’t jot notes down now for this, I won’t have time until October to do it, and by then, I’ll have long since forgotten what on Hell I want to write about. As it turns out, I don’t think that I’ll be writing the fifth book in the Solennelle & O series, but that doesn’t mean I won’t be writing something with those characters.

In fact, the book I plan on writing will actually be a sort of in-between book, something that takes place between Books Three and Four but which isn’t going to be officially part of the canon. It’s going to be a “choose your own adventure” book using the Solennelle & O characters. The overall plot? It’s O’s birthday, and his friends are all going out to find presents for him. I’ll likely get into more details on this once it gets closer to NaNoWriMo, but I’m happy to say I already have the various story arcs plotted out as well as what presents all of his friends will be getting for him. It’s nice knowing that’s out of the way. I have considered doing Book Five for NaNoWriMo, but the problem with that is that I don’t know that Book Four will be done by the time November rolls around, and seeing as how confusing it gets writing books out of sequence (I finished Book Three and had started Book Four before completing Book Two), I’m going to try and avoid doing that again. So no on Book Five unless I know Book Four is done before NaNo starts in November. Besides, coming up with notes for Book Five could take most of October whereas I have the notes for this particular mini-book already written down. Hooray for notes!

At any rate, the headache that has kept me home from work has returned with reinforcements, and I’m hoping the hot tea and the Baroque chamber music will help to assuage it before tomorrow. I hate missing work because I know it screws everything up for everyone else. Regardless, it’s time to get back to editing Book Two. I still have 190 pages to edit before I can do a final clean-up prior to publishing. Oh, and I’ll need a cover. That’s in the works too and will likely end up on the page somewhere for all to see once it’s done. Yeah, need to get back to Book Two now. Later!
